The Business Start Up Show Excel

Attending the business start up show at Excel was well worth the trip up to London.

Why was I there? I'm not a start up? Well, I was never given "How to start a business 101"
so I thought I'd go and see if there was anything useful for me - and it was a networking opportunity to boot. I experienced the Ecademy Boardrooms and was not disappointed.

I know Ecademy is a service provider to small business of all descriptions, but when I heard they were in attending I did wonder why. The need made itself apparent quite quickly in the boardroom.

I know we have Chatham House Rules and I don't intend to break any of them but the tone in the boardroom was distinctly TRANSACTIONAL, and we couldn't move on until all participants understood the value of community, sharing and group think solutions. What a great learning point.

Forgive me for coming late to the party!

I attended a Digital Mindset workshop recently and the question of quality vs quantity in building a network came to mind. Although I didn't ask the question in the end I have just had an eureka moment as I realize that it doesn't really matter. If you are ORS Open Random & Supportive - it solves the problem in one fell swoop.

Okay we all want a bit of both and dare I say it maybe more quality than quantity if it helps the ultimate objective, but what is that ultimate objective? I can't help but think that a leaning towards quality rather than quantity comes down to a transactional mindset view of networking. Whereas leaning towards quantity seems more in keeping with the idea of reaching as many people as possible for its own sake - after all we all need help in one way or another regardless of whether our own interests are met. Thank you @pennypower.
