Latest culprit………Helena Christensen, Danish Model, Former Victoria Secret Poster Girl.
It is a shame that most frequent flyer’s suffer from jet lag. What is doubly unforgivable is when frequent flyer’s who should know better complain of jet lag. Helena Christensen the jet setting Danish model is the latest to complain of jet lag while globe-trotting on modelling assignments.
Helena says “being jet lagged is like taking drugs” she goes on to say she’s been jet-lagged for over a month and has pretended to be on some kind of interesting drug, because that’s basically what it feels like. The days of jet lag being worn as a badge of honour are long gone, deal with it!
The jetspert says ANY KIND OF DRUG IS THE WRONG KIND OF DRUG FOR JET LAG HELENA!! As a model in the fashion business there is no excuse for not handling the challenge of jet lag in short order. One of my coach’s used to say “problem solving is never about a lack of resources but a lack of resourcefulness”. Helena bring some of the discipline that got you to the top of your profession to your frequent flying itinerary – you do have one don’t you?
Tips for Helena,
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – save the alcohol till you are on the ground.
- Curb that cheese habit – pasteurized dairy is acidifying and acidity is a major contributor to jet lag.
- Remember your body clock. Acclimatize using meal times and don’t skip or skimp on meals, now is not the time to eat like a waif if you want to get on local time a.s.a.p.
Helena Christensen Drained By Jet Lag
This month’s award goes to General David Patraeus (US military head in Afghanistan)
- found to be slumping on the job, see my previous post to get the full picture. The military are normally hot on fitness and hydration is one of those things you’d think they wouldn’t take for granted. Not so Gen Patraeus, jet lag and dehydration are not ways to distinguish oneself in the line of duty – also see the previous article for information about a new water product that provides super hydration.
The aide de camp needs a good telling off !
This month roll call includes US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, interviewed by Esquire magazine “it wears you out…The jet lag, the dry air on planes, the whole if it’s Tuesday, I must be in ….kind of thing.
the jetspert says The US State Department has a whole protocol for personnel with flying duties…..did you miss that. Well maybe you need your travel plans mapped out as carefully as your briefs ! Madam Secretary You must get some sleep. Rumour has it you burn the candle at all ends.
Also on the roll of shame this week Justin Bieber said to have tweeted “arghhhhhh……..THIS JET LAG IS THE WORST” May 02 2010.
The jetspert says Justin who planned your travel itinerary, fire him, sounds like they couldn’t prep a fish for swimming. This should be childs play, did you know kids are less likely to get jet lag as their bodies are more in tune with nature. I guess you just grew up too soon huh. Listen to your mum, go to bed early.
Drum roll please, kicking off the roll of jet lag shame this month is
Kelly Clarkson and Daud Yordan
Kelly Clarkson the winner of the first American Idol programme in 2002 was on tour down under and is quoted as having said
“I can’t wait to come back…….maybe less jet lag next time”.
the jetspert says :-
Ms Clarkson if only you had prepared for your trip as you did for your concerts in Oz you might not have suffered so badly. Next time zone your travel stops properly and acclimatize to the general region you find yourself. Staying up in the little hours is not advisable but with some light therapy and entrainment tools you could do just fine.
Daud Yordan an Indonesian boxer flew to Sunshine in Florida to fight Celestino Caballero – he flew out on the 5th of April when the fight was on April the 10th (due to problems obtaining a visa) – guess who lost !
Mr Yordan was quoted as saying “I suffered from jet lag. I didn’t sleep until the night before the fight due to jet lag and other problems as well…..but I don’t want to say it’s the reason of the loss” - Yordan methinks you just did !!
the jetspert says :-
As a sports professional you should know better, you should be acutely aware of the effects jet lag can have on athletic performance. Shame on you, as an athlete you have a dietary regimen’s in place to make-weight and be at your peak. Adding a few more protocols to that wouldn’t have been too much of a stretch – they could have helped you adapt to the weather, beat dehydration and adjust your sleeping patterns.
