The Rhythm Problem

Most people’s summary of the effects of jet lag relate to the body clock sleep and insomnia. Sleep is the most complained about and recognized symptom of body clock interruption. By now you know it is a part of the symptom picture of jet lag but not the singular measure of  jet lag’s presence.

Put another way, will solving the problems of an out of sync body clock mean ionizing radiation, dehydration and other factors and symptoms disappear?

Conditions for optimum sleep are rarely present on aircraft, and good sleep protocols are often ignored when the desire to sleep is wanted. The value of sleep is often underestimated in our  24hour  day society.

The Edinburgh Sleep Centre Director Dr Chris Idzikowski  gives a very useful tip on how to influence the body’s sleep pattern at a crucial moment. Minute 1.07 through to 1.45  only. Sitting down to calculate adjustments per time zone traveled smacks of too much time on your hands as a frequent flier !
